Like most people, my travel plans for 2020 have shifted during 2020 and I've spent a lot of time at home and exploring nature around Los Angeles. I've spent the entire year since March staying home besides going on hikes and taking short trips to the grocery store and have been very eager to get back to some wanderlusting--but in a safe way. My boyfriend and I recently started considering doing some day trips where we wouldn't have to be on a plane but could still get away for a couple days.

One of our favorite day trips from Los Angeles is Ensenada, Mexico. From LA, it's only a 4 and a half hour drive and there's usually very little traffic. The town itself is the perfect combination of being very tourist friendly, while still being full of local culture.

We left LA on a Sunday morning. I threw on my Sculpt and Shine Baton and Lip and Cheek Stain in Paradise Pink for an effortless look. We arrived in Ensenada around 1 pm. Our first stop was a taco shop in town that had amazing ceviche, tacos, and tostadas! We were happy to see that the restaurant was very spaced out, everyone was wearing masks, customers stepped on disinfecting mats before entering, and the employees were constantly sanitizing everything.

Some light reading in the car and a delicious ceviche tostada

Our next stop was a winery around an hour from town. We thought doing some wine tasting would be a safe option since we would be outdoors the entire time. Plus, what's a weekend getaway without a little wine? We went to the Vinicola Castillo Ferrer in Valle de Guadalupe. They look temperature checks as soon as we arrived, had us wash our hands, and had all of the tables at least 12 feet apart. We also ordered a charcuterie board with our wine and everything arrived individually packaged to minimize contact.

We finished out the day with some tacos to go from a local stand and ate them at our hotel while watching The Purge in our room (with subtitles for me of course!) Our favorite place to stay is the Hotel Quintas Papagayo. It's right on the water, very affordable, and guests stay in their own individual villas which provide a great amount of privacy and no contact with other guests.

I started our second day doing a little work from the hotel room and then walking along the water next to the hotel. I then did a quick skincare routine with the Beauty Batons--a quick cleanse, scrub, and hydrating balm. Before getting in the car for our drive back I threw on the Blurring Primer in the Cleanse and Prime Beauty Baton and the Lip and Cheek Stain in Sunset Lover.

An easy morning routine by the water

After a relaxing morning we started our journey back to Los Angeles. Before crossing back over the border in Tijuana, we stopped at our favorite restaurant in the city, Los Arcos. We were comforted that they took temperatures at the door, had all tables more than 6 feet apart, and even had silverware individually wrapped after sanitizing them to minimize contact. The meal was delicious end to our first getaway of 2020.

Our favorite dish at Los Arcos! Fish prepared to order with delicious sides
